URS is providing support to offshore and onshore storage, regasification and supply operations at the Adriatic LNG terminal off the Italian coast.
Since 2003, URS in Italy and in Spain has provided environmental, permitting and compliance, and health and safety services to the design and construction phases of the terminal. As a result of our outstanding multidisciplinary performance, in 2009 Adriatic LNG commissioned URS in Italy to provide comprehensive support on the site operations for another five years.
The Adriatic LNG Terminal is the world’s first offshore Gravity Based Structure (GBS) for unloading, storing and regasifying Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). Located on the sea floor, about 15 kilometers off the Veneto coastline in the northern Adriatic Sea, this state-of-the-art structure includes a regasification plant and facilities for mooring and unloading LNG vessels, specifically designed to provide the Italian domestic gas network with a major new source of imported energy.
The scope of services provided by URS include overall engineering support and project management for operations and maintenance, health and safety services, quality control and risk assessments, permitting and compliance management, and overall procurement management.
