Germany
URS has extensive experience in restoring historically contaminated soil and groundwater sites across Germany. Additional infrastructure projects include the development and extension of ports and harbours, and key transportation hubs to cope with increasing usage, while improving their sustainability credentials by uncovering and removing hazardous building materials. We have been applying our patented 'Floating Bioreactor' methodology to projects involving on-site treatment of contaminated sediments.
URS is proud to be a founding member of the German Sustainable Building Council (Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Nachhaltiges Bauen, DGNB), helping to establish the criteria for Germany's own system of certification for sustainable buildings. We lead the field in sustainable innovations such as climate protection and develop, implement and monitor government and public sector projects using renewable energies, including windfarms and phovoltaics.
