Modern facilities for the 21st century military
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the US Department of Defense (DoD) are transforming their estates through rationalisation and modernisation, in order to provide facilities that operate more efficiently and are ready to support the future needs of the military.

URS continues to define, develop and deliver estate solutions in support of these operational requirements.

A history of innovation
Through our continuous involvement with the Defence sector over the past 20 years, URS remains at the forefront of innovation. Our history of ‘firsts’ includes:

  • 1st Property Partnership – Estate Advisory (Army)
  • 1st Capital Prime Contract – Andover North Site Redevelopment
  • 1st Army PFI Contract – Harrogate Foundation College

Continuing in this tradition, URS is an integrated first tier supply chain member on the first Regional Prime Contract. This seven-year, £460m project covers facilities management and construction services across the entire MoD estate in Scotland, and is one of six such contracts helping to deliver the MoD’s overall management strategy.

We offer a diverse range of specialised services including Integrated Estate Management Plans (IEMP), an integrated ‘one stop shop’ for military-compliant design services, sustainability services and risk-based fraud prevention.

URS provides professional services support across six RAF Main Operating Bases on a five-year multi-million pound contract. We continue to support the MoD Overseas Estate in numerous locations including the Falkland Islands, Ascension Island, Gibraltar and Brunei.

Working across the asset cycle
URS services the entire asset cycle, from masterplanning and pre-planning, detailed design and construction, through to sustainability and energy efficiency, facilities management and site decommissioning and disposal.
